    Description

Most Popular Plantation Songs Gullah Pidgin Civil War Era Black Americana Book
    Book is dated 1917
Several songs in the book were written by Stephen Collins Foster who was known as “the father of American music.” Also to be noted is that the book was arranged by Gilbert Clifford Noble (Harvard), one of the founders of Barnees & Noble. It was also published by Hinds, Noble & Eldridge.
Although the book is dated 1917, most of the songs were from the Civil War Era and many likely before. Many of the songs are written in Gullah, Pidgin and English Black Vernacular. The song book has 108 pages of songs. Other famous names Henry C Work, S. S. Steele, Sep Winner are featured in the book. Many, of course, are not attributed to any one individual as they are original plantation songs.
Book is together but features some tearing in front cover and some pages slightly pulled away.
Book will arrive in protective plastic and cardboard as shown in photo
